La Pérgola: Livestreaming

Live performances direct from La Marina de València

The brief

Throughout 2020, the renowned La Marina de Valencia hosted its popular weekly public concerts. A celebration of music, culture and good times, these concerts attract hundreds of people from across the Mediterranean city to watch live performances. The coronavirus pandemic called for something different, and Broaden were engaged to live-stream the weekly gigs to La Marina’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

The process

Livestreaming the weekly concerts involved a streamlined approach to livestreaming:

  • Multi-cam setup: We combined three camera angles to provide optimum coverage, including an on-stage shot, a wide angle of the stage and crowd, and a roaming camera for detail and long shots
  • Multi-platform emission: The broadcasts went out to YouTube and Facebook in parallel, and were viewable in real time by the public
  • Full recording: Every performance was provided to the client as a final video file, complete with audio straight from the sound design and branded graphic overlays
The outcome

Broaden filmed and broadcast 20 concerts in total, featuring over 40 bands from around Spain and Europe and totaling over 50 hours of online content. The livestreams were an invaluable way of bringing culture to people’s homes throughout the long months of the coronavirus restrictions in 2020.

“So that no one missed these special performances at sunset by the sea, they could be followed for free, live-streamed through YouTube and Facebook.”
