Exclusive live performances celebrating ‘Black Joy’ in Manchester
The brief
BBC Music Introducing LIVE is the annual event for aspiring artists and anyone looking to get into the music industry. From 24 – 31 October 2021, BBC Introducing was joined by the likes of HAIM, Ray BLK, Tom Misch, Jack Garratt, Arlo Parks and Moses Boyd and more for a series of exclusive live performances, masterclasses and panel talks. Broaden was approached to capture a series of live performances and panel talk on ‘Black Joy’ at Manchester’s Off the Square venue as part of the LIVE event.
The process
We worked closely with BBC Introducing to deliver the live sessions within a tight turnaround:
- Multi-cam shoot: Broaden provided DOP and 2nd Camera Op to attend and film the afternoon and evening of performances.
- Edit process: Ensuring cameras were matched to a high-quality audio mix, the videos were edited into concise and dynamic session videos which capture the live energy of the show.
The outcome
The final delivered package was a suite of coherent videos, including four songs performed by Mali Hayes, RagaLoco, Ceeow, and Jordan Max in addition to an hour-long panel discussion. The videos were aired nationally as part of the October 2021 LIVE event, and have since amassed over 8000 views on YouTube.
